What is Lexicom?
Lexicom is an intensive 5-day workshop in lexicography and lexical computing. It combines practical work with theoretical perspectives to provide training in the creation of corpus-based dictionaries and the software that supports this activity.
The workshop alternates seminar presentations and lectures with practical sessions. During these activities, participants work together in small groups using their own web-linked computers to complete exercises and develop dictionary entries.
Since its launch in 2001, Lexicom has been held annually in a variety of international locations. Today, it is a well-established lexicographic training course with more than 700 graduates from over 70 countries.
Participants come from diverse professional backgrounds, including publishing, academia, software development, and government agencies. In particular, the workshop attracts editors, linguists, computational linguists, engineers, translators, terminologists, and graduate students interested in corpus-based lexicography and lexical computing.
Lexicom is the best way to learn lexicography in a short period of time. Or at least, to get you started in modern electronic lexicography.
